Delta, Unsupported

Transfer America reports on an article discovered on MSNBC about Delta Airlines raising their prices yet again. However, this time, their attempt at raising the price failed. In order for the prices to be raised, all airlines must support each other.

Rick Seaney, CEO of FareCompare.com, stated “It is unusual for a legacy airline not to have at least one other airline match a domestic hike attempt. In this case crickets could be heard chirping as none of Delta’s peers lifted a finger in support, leaving them on a limb with uncompetitive pricing for two days.”

Delta allegedly raised their ticket prices from $4 to $10 Tuesday morning. This increase in price was only pivoted towards the U.S. route systems and it was their second domestic increase in just a week. Seaney commented on Delta’s actions, “This comes right on the heels of Delta initiating a $20 fare hike on long-haul flights and JetBlue doing a shorter-haul hike last week. It looks like we’re tracking almost like last year which was basically ‘let’s get a bunch of fare hikes in early’ because they had a lot of trouble raising prices later in the year.”

The three ingredients in creating a fair ticket price are competition, fuel prices, and supply and demand. At the moment, all three are creating a recipe for disaster, which means higher ticket prices.

Planes Avoid Fatal Crash

Transfer America found an article describing how two planes almost crashed on a Chicago runway. A Southwest plane who recently landed at the Midway Airport was preparing to cross a runway when all of a sudden the co-pilot shouted to stop. Apparently, a smaller jet was taking off the runway the Southwest plane was just about to cross. Officials said the air traffic controllers had given both planes clearance but had failed to cancel the takeoff or stop Southwest from crossing the runway to stop collision.

The planes almost collided but were able to stop 300 feet of each other. Though both pilots were shaken up, the FAA judged that the incident was not as serious as a near collision but that both planes had ample distance between to avoid the crash.

The preliminary report stated that “air traffic controllers cleared a Learjet for takeoff on Midway’s runway 31R and told the Southwest pilot to cross the same runway before contacting ground control”.

The pilot for Southwest was able to stop before the runway’s edge but claimed that the Learjet flew over the plane. Southwest had 74 passengers aboard with 5 crew members. Though none was injured, the incident is still being investigated.

Romantic Getaways This Winter

Everyone’s idea of a romantic getaway varies to some degree. For example, Cathy Grey has visited over thirty countries but the place she loves most is a village named Berber in Morocco. She loves “getting to know the locals and riding mules into the mountains…the sleeping arrangements at a high altitude, the kerosene lamps, fireplace, and burrowing under 10,000 colorful blankets just feels extremely intimate”.

Though people define romance differently in the end it all boils down to being intimate with your significant other, having time to bond and to discover each other. The world has thousands of places for couples to enjoy and experience. Instead of sticking to the same traditional trips, try something new and exciting. Travel the world and learn new cultures and languages.

For those who love to bathe in sunlight, there are many places where you can flee that winter chill. You could relax in a bungalow in Costa Rica or learn how to surf in the coast of Mexico. If seeking something more adventurous book the honeymoon suite at the Pacuare River Lodge. This lodge requires couples to walk across a suspension bridge to reach the honeymoon suite. In addition, they have the best white water rafting and they serve dinner along a mighty river by candlelight.

No matter where you decide to go, it will be special in its own way. However, if you are unable to take a vacation with your significant other because of an unwanted timeshare, be sure to contact Transfer America today.

An Honorable TSA Screener

As the world changes day by day, not many remember what it is to be honorable. Greed is what many now know and though it is terrible to say, its the truth. However, Transfer America commends a Transportation Security Administration screener who apparently returned $5,000. This unexpected deed is extremely honorable and not many would simply turn in $5,000 in cash. John Deschamp, a thirty-six year old man, spotted something on the floor on December 27, 2011. Deschamp described what he saw and said, “..the cash was wadded up, some of it bound by a paper band, as if it had been stuffed in a pocket”. Though security tried to use security cameras to find who the cash belonged to the cameras were unable to focus on that specific location.

After finding the money, Deschamp continued to walk to the nearest check-in desk, which was United Airlines, and handed the money over to them. A spokeswoman from United Airlines stated that if the money remains unclaimed it will go towards charity.

Best Way to Escape

Many timeshare owners have now begun to understand the financial burden of their once loved timeshare. These owners made an emotional decision when they made the commitment to purchase a timeshare at a sales presentation. However, as years passed, maintenance fees started increasing and taking time off work for a vacation was no longer a wise decision in this economy. But the main problem of owning a timeshare is that the contract is perpetual, which means forever. Once you sign a timeshare contract there is no escaping.

Therefore, many timeshare owners are seeking for a way to get rid of their timeshares once and for all. Since there is no resale market for timeshare, many timeshare resale companies have been created to help owners out of their timeshares. Though some of these companies are honest and hardworking companies, more than half of them are scams. These con artists often use strategies to convince timeshare owners to pay for their services. For example, never pay an upfront fee. Some timeshare resale companies will tell you that they have a buyer waiting to purchase your timeshare. However, once you pay them you discover that there was no buyer and suddenly you cannot get in contact with the company.

On the other hand, there are other options such as donating your timeshare or even renting it out. But charities who do accept timeshares are extremely limited and are picky about which timeshares they will accept. Subsequently, when trying to rent your timeshare you are competing with thousands of other timeshares and resorts who might be able to afford lowering their price.

Though there are different options out there for timeshare owners not all of them are real businesses who care. At Transfer America, we transfer the title out of your name so that you are no longer responsible for the timeshare. If you want out of your timeshare for good, make sure to contact a representative at Transfer America today.

Surcharges on Flights to Europe

To those who are planning to travel to Europe beware of the additional charges being added to your plane tickets. Transfer America reports that three airlines, United-Continental, US Airways, and Delta, are adding a surcharge to any flights headed towards Europe. An article on USA Today, explains that the European Union has started charging airlines carbon emission fees.

When asked to comment, all three airlines refused to discuss the surcharge. But analysts have discovered that the airlines plan to charge their consumers the fee from the European Union. This new law will cost the U.S. airline industry an estimated amount of $3.1 billion in the next eight years. This surcharge is being added on top of another surcharge for higher fuel costs.

The director of Consumer Travel Alliance, Charles Leocha, stated, “This is a new fee, so it’s going to go straight to the bottom line, and that means consumers will be paying. This is one more fee on top of all the other ones, so it adds up.”

Many industries have already had to pay for carbon emissions but this is the first time that this program included airlines. The way this program works is the airlines have a cap on carbon-dioxide emissions. Through the year, each airline is only given 85% of that cap for free. If the airline goes beyond that cap they are required to purchase an allowance from other industries. Those who do not abide by the rules will be fined up to $130 per ton of carbon emission as well as the potential of being banned from European airspaces.

These extra fees will most likely be passed down consumers who are purchasing the plane tickets to Europe.  Many companies are already seeking out different ways to lower/reduce the carbon emission for their planes.

New Timeshare Development?

An article on WMBF news, revealed residents of the North Beach Plantation community is concerned about the new management trying to turn empty units into timeshares. These residents are worried that this new condo development will lower their home values.

Apparently, Horry County Register of Deeds shows the previous owners of the mortgage had defaulted on their payment and was sold to Starwood Capital Group this past December. When asked to comment on the potential timeshare plans, the company did not respond to any request made.

Blake Sloan, a real estate expert, stated that the property owners have a right to be concerned if the new management plans on turning empty units into timeshares. However, there is no proof that timeshares will decrease
“property value of owner-occupied units”. In addition, with the right management, timeshares could benefit the condominium as a whole by allowing management to seek out better maintenance.

Sloan also stated, “”I think it’s definitely a reason to be concerned, but at the same time after actually seeing some data in regards to what happens when a timeshare or vacation ownership does come in there, in times like that it can actually be a benefit”.

If you are a owner of a timeshare and wish to rid yourself of your unwanted timeshare, contact Transfer America today so that you can visit the wonderful Myrtle Beach.

Handgun Found in Carryon

These past few months have been extremely busy for airports as well as other transportation. Many incidents have occurred and the most recent was this past Thursday at an airport in Missouri. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) allegedly discovered a loaded handgun in a man’s carryon last week. This weapon was loaded with twenty-three rounds with one already in the chamber. TSA “saw the image of the weapon and alerted police at Kansas City International Airport”.

According to the police, Anthony Winn had a 9mm in his carryon as well as “$26,000 in cash stuffed in the pockets of jeans in the bag and almost $5,000 in the pants he was wearing”. The report revealed that Winn claimed that he was returning the bag to his brother after he left it at his house. However, a little while later he started changed his story and said he was taking the bag to his friend in Arizona and had no idea that the bag had either the cash or weapon.

Winn is a convicted felon who was previously charged with burglary and “unlawful use of a weapon”. He is now being charged with “being a felon in possession of a firearm”. Since the incident Winn is being detained at the local jail and will remain there until his hearing next week. The U.S. attorney’s office in Kansas stated that the case was still under investigation but “there was no indication of terrorism”.

Transfer America reminds vacationers to double check luggage and to make sure to take out anything that might be seen as a weapon in your carryon. If you are stuck with an unwanted timeshare, contact Transfer America today and see what they can do for you.
