Handgun Found in Carryon

These past few months have been extremely busy for airports as well as other transportation. Many incidents have occurred and the most recent was this past Thursday at an airport in Missouri. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) allegedly discovered a loaded handgun in a man’s carryon last week. This weapon was loaded with twenty-three rounds with one already in the chamber. TSA “saw the image of the weapon and alerted police at Kansas City International Airport”.

According to the police, Anthony Winn had a 9mm in his carryon as well as “$26,000 in cash stuffed in the pockets of jeans in the bag and almost $5,000 in the pants he was wearing”. The report revealed that Winn claimed that he was returning the bag to his brother after he left it at his house. However, a little while later he started changed his story and said he was taking the bag to his friend in Arizona and had no idea that the bag had either the cash or weapon.

Winn is a convicted felon who was previously charged with burglary and “unlawful use of a weapon”. He is now being charged with “being a felon in possession of a firearm”. Since the incident Winn is being detained at the local jail and will remain there until his hearing next week. The U.S. attorney’s office in Kansas stated that the case was still under investigation but “there was no indication of terrorism”.
