Hundreds if not thousands of timeshare owners have tried relentlessly to sell their timeshares with no results. One owner unfortunately had a bad experience when trying to sell her timeshare. Rhonda Hemker and her family tried to sell their Boston timeshare that they had bought previously. The family had only used their timeshare once in the ten years that they have owned it.

Hemker stated, “We would rather be out, out in the woods and camping instead of in a hotel. I know it’s weird, but that’s the way we are.”

After doing her research, Hemker and her husband decided to work with a company called Executive Vacations, which is based in California. They were very hesitant to use another company because they have been the victims of a timeshare scam. However, once she paid Executive Vacations $1500 to find a buyer for their property, the company disconnected their phone. After being scammed twice, Hemker finally decides to try and sell the timeshare herself. If she had only checked with the Better Business Bureau she would have discovered that Executive Vacations was given a F rating.

To truly get out of your timeshare contact Transfer America and see how they can help you today.

Many of these consumers were unaware of the full responsibilities as well as fees that are associated with the purchase. Michael Singletary and his wife had attended an owner’s update in July of 2009. Instead of an update, the couple had to endure hours of sales pitches pushing them to purchase more points and VIP upgrades. Several hours later, Singletary and his wife had purchased 300,000 points, which is equivalent to $10,000, from the representatives.

The Singletary’s are not the first to experience this type of sales pitch. Many timeshare owners were also pushed into purchasing their timeshares. Timeshare sellers know exactly how to convince the regular consumer into making an irrational decision. For example, Rosemary Jeffers, who is currently 78 years old, had purchased a timeshare in the late 1990s. She claims that this purchase was not by choice because the company had foisted it on her. In addition, Jeffers also stated that the company has dishonest sales practices and promises benefits which are never seen.

Singletary and Jeffers are among one hundred other timeshare owners who have hired lawyers to get them out of their timeshare contracts. However, Wyndham’s iron-clad contracts make it difficult for lawyers to find a way for their clients to escape. Their only hope is to continue pushing Wyndham until they come to an agreement.

Last week a baby who hadn’t been screened properly led to a partial shutdown of a terminal at Newark Liberty International Airport. The TSA official stated that the incident was a security breech that caused flight delays as well as other inconveniences.

The TSA spokesperson, Lisa Farbstein, stated, “A mother and baby went through a metal detector when the machine sounded an alarm, according to The Associated Press. The mother handed the child to the father, who had already been screened. The mother was cleared, but the baby hadn’t been properly screened. The parents and baby left the checkpoint and headed to their gate.”

It wasn’t until sometime later that the TSA agents realized that the baby had not been checked when the alarm when off at the checkpoint. The agents then started looking for the family and notified the Port Authority police as protocol stated.

The agency stated that this was a low risk situation and advised against evacuating the terminal but the police continued to shut down the terminal. An official stated, “Port Authority police unilaterally made the decision to evacuate the terminal, sweep the terminal for explosives and re-screen all of the passengers, inconveniencing hundreds of passengers and delaying numerous flights.” The terminals opened an hour later and everyone had to be rescreened at the security checkpoint.

Last week in Ormond Beach, two women were arrested for being involved in a timeshare scam that victimized thirteen timeshare owners. According to the County Sheriff’s Office, these women were able to convince the victims into giving them $20,000. Celeste Stalnaker and Stephanie Tanos, the two women arrested, were working at H&H Holdings. Apparently, they told timeshare owners that they would help them sell their timeshare for a fee. However, once the owners paid them, they never heard from them again.

The Sheriff’s Office stated that the two women were arrested after they received complaints against H&H Holdings for receiving wire transfers and then never calling the sellers again. To this day, the two women had taken $21, 657 from the thirteen victims. Though the victims may never see their money again the women responsible are being held accountable for their actions.

Spokesmen Gary Davidson of the Sheriff’s Office commented, “We have two people to hold accountable, and I can’t speak for the State Attorney’s Office, but hopefully through the prosecution of this case part of the goal would be restitution to the victims.”

According to the statement released, “Stalnaker said she would call potential victims and offer to sell their time shares, and once an agreement had been reached, Tanos would tell the time-share owners how much money to wire for services such as title search and closing fees. The women went to Walmart stores in the area to pick up the cash, and Tanos would give Stalnaker a 5 percent to 20 percent share of the profit.”

Transfer America warns timeshare owners to be aware of whom they are dealing with. With the economic decline, more and more scammers have realized how desperate timeshare owners are in trying to get rid of their timeshare.

Apparently, a passenger’s cellphone was discovered plugged into the socket in the lavatory of the plane. The discovery of the phone led to an emergency landing at the Dublin airport. Once the plane landed, it was led to a secluded area and boarded by the police. Yesterday, a Canadian airline played a April fool’s prank on everyone. In a commercial they proposed a child-free cabin for parents who are always worried about their children throwing tantrums.

The only catch was that the children would be checked and stowed away as cargo.

Richard Bartrem, the vice president of communications commented, “Your child will be whisked away in a magic carpet ride and your work is done.”

This April Fool’s commercial was very entertaining as well as humorous. We hope that everyone else had a great and exciting day.

The man is currently being held without bail at the local station. The suspect was a 45-year-old man named Harold Waller. The Transportation Security Administration officers discovered the weapons in his carry-on. There were three loaded firearms hidden in the carry-on while the last handgun was discovered on Waller. Though the type of weapons were not specified, Waller faces “charges including unlawful possession of a loaded firearm, unlawful possession of a concealed firearm, possession of an unauthorized weapon in a public building and possession of a firearm within a sterile area of an airport”. Transfer America hopes that all vacationers are careful when traveling through an airport.

The Department of Real Estate warns California residents to be aware of the phony offers spewed by scammers to sell or buy timeshares for a fee. The DRE claims that “typical scams involve promises of a quick sale in exchange for upfront ‘paperwork’ fees”. Once the company receives the money, the timeshare owner will never hear from them again.

For example, the Better Business Bureau warned consumers about a timeshare resale company called First Capital Financial Services Corp. from Las Vegas. This company cold calls timeshare owners claiming to have a buyer who wishes to purchase their timeshare. According the BBB, timeshare owners paid the company more than $2,000 for a non-existent service. There has been over fifty complaints against this company from victims of this company.

Gas prices have been steadily increasing over the past months and they are expected to rise even more. In just two weeks gas prices have jumped 12 cents and are averaging $3.81 for regular. In a survey conducted by Lundberg, the average price for gasoline has “jumped 30 cents in four weeks”.

Lundberg commented, “Gasoline prices would like to peak soon because there is too much gasoline supply versus demand, except on the West Coast due to refinery maintenance projects. The higher prices on the West Coast attract gallons from elsewhere in the country impacting supply nationwide. So it creates a slightly tighter gasoline market for now.”

Listed below are the prices of others cities in the U.S.:

“– Boston, $3.78

– Philadelphia, $3.76

– Atlanta, $3.72

– Chicago, $4.08

– Indianapolis, $3.77

– Houston, $3.66

– Las Vegas, $3.77

– Seattle, $4.00”

Transfer America advises vacationers and consumers worldwide to start carpooling or using an alternative way to get to work.

Traveling can be extremely dangerous, especially if you are in need of a person with medical experience. This past weekend, two San Diego Navy doctors saved a man’s life while they were on a Texas flight. On February 8, 2011, Lt. Gregory Capra and Lt. Art Ambrosio boarded a plane to San Antonio. These two Navy doctors were on their way to Texas for a medical training course when a man seated at the front of the plane went into cardiac arrest.

Even with “two failed CPR attempts, and an unsuccessful administering of an automated external defibrillator (AED), the man was still not responding”. The plane nurse even tried to inject an IV into his arm but the man’s veins were inaccessible. Finally, the two Navy doctors decided to try something different. After the wife revealed that her husband had a history of airway obstruction, “Capra thrusted the man’s jaw upward and opened his airway, while Ambrosio inserted a plastic hook-shaped device into his throat”. The man began to respond and the plane made an emergency landing so that the medics could take over.

Capra commented, ““We were in shock that it had actually happened, and that we were in the middle of it all. We were like, ‘Did that just happen to us?’ It was very surreal.”

Ambrosia commented, “There are different things they teach us here like poise under pressure, no wasted movements, knowing what you mean and meaning what you say … all of that helped us respond to this situation quickly and efficiently.”
